You could be on the ground helping improve people’s lives with your own hands and hard work. WHEN can help you set up a visit through Calcutta Rescue (CR) or other charities in India and East Africa. Fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. We accept volunteers from the following two groups:
- Volunteers with professional training in healthcare, education, and information technology (IT).
- Untrained volunteers who can visit projects in Kolkata as a group.
WHEN volunteer Marissa Ripoli, a nursing student from University of Iowa, is heading to Kolkata this summer to work in CR’s Chitpur clinic for leprosy (Hansen’s Disease). Thanks to a generous dollar-for-dollar match from WHEN’s treasurer Jon Stypula, every dollar Marissa raises for her journey (half of which goes directly to CR) will be worth $2! Read more about Marissa’s plans and follow her blog from Kolkata here.
Emma Lo is on WHEN’s Board of Directors and a medical student at the University of Rochester. She volunteered for Calcutta Rescue (CR) for 6 months in 2010. You can read Emma’s blog during her stay in Kolkata here.
Jonathan Reisman MD is WHEN’s President and volunteered for Calcutta Rescue (CR) in 2009.
